Power & Light District and other newer downtown buildings are framed with steel studs behind drywall, which take self-tapping metal-stud screws or toggle anchors rather than the wood screws used in residential framing, and storefront glass walls can't be mounted into at all — we anchor to an adjacent structural wall or a freestanding mounting structure instead. Country Club Plaza's retail buildings date to the 1920s and are largely masonry and plaster construction, which behaves like an older home's walls but usually needs to carry a heavier commercial-grade display.
